Mary Schiltz

My Story

Hello! My name is Mary Schiltz. I am from St. Charles, IL, and I work as a high school English teacher at Marquette Academy. I am the second of five children and it is my third year as a missionary with Biking for Babies.

I wanted to be a missionary with Biking for Babies because it is a tangible way to make a real difference in the lives of women who are experiencing unplanned pregnancies. The need for resources and support to women who have unplanned pregnancies is an important cause, and deserves a radical effort–which is why I want to show my support through biking a radical distance. At the heart of Catholic teaching is the truth that all humans are created in the image and likeness of God, and therefore have inherent worth. The dignity of every person is not something that can be earned or given out, but it is something that is inherently human. This is something that is so easy to say and believe when I think of the people in my life whose stories include adoption after an unplanned pregnancy.

“If I say, “Surely the darkness will hide me and the light become night around me,” even the darkness will not be dark to you; the night will shine like the day, for darkness is as light to you. For you created my inmost being; you knit me together in my mother’s womb.” (Psalm 139:11-13)

Join me in Biking for Babies' mission by making a gift towards my fundraising campaign. Your gift supports our mission to renew the culture of life by forming young adult missionaries and raising awareness and funds for pregnancy resource centers that support pregnant women across the country.
