My name is Fr. Matthew Harrison and I am the priest and campus minister at High Point UNiversity and NC A&T! I have a deep love for the pro-life mission and a love for endurance sports. This trip is in many ways the marriage of the two, and I hope that you enjoy joining the mission and following along! I am grateful to be partnering with Biking for Babies and Mira Via (Belmont) for this journey and joining a group of young adults in their pro-life ministry! It is my hope that this page will tell you a little about our mission and insipre you assist our mission in some way!
The pro-life initiative is not just a mission of changing minds, but is an effort of changing culture itself. Many mothers who resort to abortion first find themselves in a place of isolation. They may experience hopelessness, shame, or confusion as to what the future may hold. I firmly believe that the solution to this will be found in changing culture to help mothers see the joy and beauty of the new life with which they have been entrusted. This biking mission is a peice of that puzzle. In unifying our efforts with Mira Via and pregnancy centers around the nation, I hope to bring awarness, support and encouragment to both mothers in need and to the homes in which they live. It is my hope that when struggling mothers see missionaries that embrace something scary and challenging such as a 600 mile bike ride to defend life, they they will not feel as isolated or alone, but rather will know that there are people and communities ready and willing to help them along their own journeys.
