Hello everyone!! My name is Shea Mahoney I’m 32 years old and I’m from the Chicagoland area. I’m the eldest of 4 (1 brother and 2 sisters) and work as a bookkeeper for a crisis pregnancy center called The Women’s Centers of Greater Chicagoland. I love sports (Chicago Bears are #1), listening to music, dancing (waltz, swing, foxtrot, and contra dances), reading (huge Tolkien and CS Lewis fan), watching movies and TV shows, and hanging out with family and friends. My Catholic faith is my foundation of who I am. I’m also a lector at my parish and I enjoy talking about the faith with anyone who wants to know more. I’m excited about this great opportunity with Biking for Babies.
The main reason why I joined Biking for Babies this year is because as someone who works in the pregnancy center world now for 5 years I have heard stories of the women who come in scared, anxious, lost, feeling unheard, unseen, unloved like they don’t belong anywhere. When the world tells you that you can’t be something or you need to give up on your own dreams you feel hopeless. But that is far from the truth. You are cared for, you are seen, you are heard, you are loved, and you do belong. So to further show you this: I’m giving of my time and comfort to prepare to serve the riders on the National Ride as a support crew member from Columbus, OH to St Louis, MO. I’m doing this because I want to actively help in bringing the Gospel to all I encounter and speak the Truth about the help that pregnancy centers can provide for women and families. I’m doing this for all those who feel lost or unseen or don’t feel like they belong.
